Frugal Friday: Freebies and Rebates

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I have come across some great freebies and rebates found on other blogs that I read daily. While I don’t usually focus on posting freebies, because I think there are others who do it so well, I do love receiving samples in my mail box. Signing up for free samples not only includes the product sample, but almost always includes a coupon as well for the product sample. This coupon can then be paired up with a sale; making it worthwhile for me to sign up for the freebies.

Free Reusable Grocery Tote for residents of IL, KS, MI, MN, MO, OH, OK, and WI from Red Gold Tomatoes. Offer expires November 6th or while supplies last. (Thank you PocketYourDollars)

Don’t forget about Wal-Mart samples. These change periodically so you’ll need to check back often to see what is available.

Pampers Gifts To Grow – While this is not a freebie, it is a code that can be added to your account to accumulate for rewards: GRATUIT89102009 – 1pt code (Thank you One Momma Saving Money).  More about Gifts To Grow here.

Hulu To The Rescue

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I don’t consider myself one to be hip with the times when it comes to technology, but I do know how to navigate my way around the web to get what I need. I missed the Survivor episode on Thursday night and knew that I could watch it on CBS’ website. My husband suggested finding it on Hulu though. The word Hulu makes me want to say “yoohoo”. Hulu is a company fast approaching two years on the market and provides movies and TV shows from many networks and studios from their website for your viewing pleasure.

I love that this site is available, because not only do I not have a VCR to record a show that I’ve missed, I also don’t have DVR. We’ve avoided DVR for the cost involved for paying for the service, but now I really don’t have to worry about paying for it since Hulu is available. It makes me feel a little guilty being able to utilize something I don’t have to pay for, but now it’s just one more way we can save money.

Ebates! Where it pays to shop.

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

ebatesEbates is a great place to shop for many reasons. They pay you back for shopping through their program. They provide hundreds of online retailers to shop through, and many of them are retailers that you probably already purchase things from already. Best of all, it’s free.

Anytime I’m planning to make an online purchase I always go to the Ebates site first to see if the retailer is listed, and more times than not they are. Ebates pays out quarterly either by issuing you a check or depositing the funds into your paypal account. Once your cash back amount for purchases made is greater than $5.01 then you will receive your “Big Fat Check” at the next quarterly payout.

Once you’ve made your first qualifying purchase, you’ll also earn a $5 sign-up bonus. The bonus is payable after you’ve accrued more than $5.01 in purchases through Ebates and is payable at the next quarterly payout. You can also earn a $5.00 referral bonus for referring your friends and family too.

I’ve made many purchases through Ebates at places like Gap, Famous Footwear, and Shutterfly. I love using Ebates because it’s another way for our family to save on purchases that we make. As with any rewards program, only purchase things that you were already intending to purchase to truly make it a savings for your family.
